Pipe Plug Selection Notes
The Sava 76770 S4 is used in 4-inch pipe applications where a bypass capability of 0.5 inches is required to maintain flow-through or pressure testing conditions. From a selection standpoint, verifying the nominal pipe size is the most important factor, along with confirming the pipe material and surface condition are compatible with the NR-SBR rubber reinforced with Kevlar tire cording. Backpressure must be confirmed against the plug's tested working pressure, bearing in mind this plug is rated for pressures at least three times the working inflation pressure. The standard tire valve used for inflation supports integration with common inflation sources.
Inflation And Blocking Planning
Before deployment, inspect the plug surface carefully for cuts, abrasions, or rubber damage that could affect seal integrity or lead to failures under pressure. Consider using a protective sleeve if the insertion path or pipe interior is subject to abrasion or irregularities. Inflate the plug to the specified pressure and monitor inflation regularly during use; this type of inflatable pipe plug should not be left inflated and unattended for extended periods.
