Pipe Plug Selection Notes
This pipe plug fits nominal pipe diameters from 24 to 48 inches, making it compatible for a broad range of commercial and municipal pipeline sizes within that range. The chemical-resistant chloroprene rubber with Kevlar reinforcement provides protection against many common industrial chemicals, but specific chemical compatibility should be verified against job-site exposure before use. The 4-inch bypass connection allows flow-through testing or partial line flow during blockage. From a selection standpoint, check that the expected backpressure and required blocking or isolation match the plug’s specified working pressures, which are verified by testing at three times working inflation pressure.
Inflation And Setup Planning
Inflation utilizes a standard tire valve, making pump and monitoring equipment straightforward to source and operate. Before use, inspect the plug for cuts, abrasions, or rubber damage that could compromise sealing or wear resistance. Consider use of protective sleeves if the pipe’s interior presents abrasive or irregular surfaces to reduce wear during insertion or retrieval. Maintain inflation pressure at the specified level throughout the job, as this plug should not be left inflated and unattended for extended periods.

SAVA Pillow-Style Inflatable Pipe Plugs.
Versatile and durable pillow plugs are ideal for large pipes where access is limited. When deflated, they can be folded up and inserted through a standard manhole, then inflated. Standard sizes range from 2' to 9' in diameter, with or without bypass for testing and flow through. Generally, a pillow shaped pipe pipe plug can be inserted through an opening 1/3 the diameter of the pipe.
