The plug’s chemical resistant NR-SBR rubber compound reinforced with Kevlar tire cording suits certain chemical exposures; verify the specific chemicals in the flow against compatibility with this rubber type before use. The one-inch bypass connection lets fluid flow through during blocking or testing setups when flow-through capability is needed.

Inflation And Blocking Planning

Before deployment, inspect the inflatable plug surface carefully for cuts, abrasions, or other rubber damage that could affect performance. Use a protective sleeve if the pipe surface is abrasive or rough to prevent damage during insertion and removal. Inflate the plug to the specified pressure using the standard 1/4 inch male inflation fitting and monitor the inflation pressure regularly to maintain it while in use. Do not leave the plug inflated and unattended for extended periods.

Generally, a pillow shaped pipe pipe plug can be inserted through an opening 1/3 the diameter of the pipe.

Does the 1" bypass have a threaded connection? We need to connect a pump to the bypass to fill the down stream section of a siphon line.

Yes, all our bypass plugs have a threaded flange for pipe or hose connections. It is standard NPT threading.
