Q: What are Hazloc tools?

Hazloc tools are tools and equipment used in hazardous location environments where flammable gases, vapors, combustible dust, fibers, or other conditions may require specialized equipment selection.

Q: What is the difference between explosion proof and intrinsically safe equipment?

Explosion proof equipment is designed to contain or manage ignition risks within the equipment housing based on its rating. Intrinsically safe equipment is designed to limit electrical or thermal energy so it does not become an ignition source under specified conditions.

Q: How do I choose HAZLOC for a hazardous location?

Select hazloc only after confirming the site's classified area, permitted tool type, material compatibility, power source, and the employer or facility safety requirements. A product label alone does not replace a site-specific hazard assessment.

Q: What does non-sparking mean for HAZLOC?

Non-sparking tools are made from materials intended to reduce spark risk during impact or friction, but they do not eliminate every ignition hazard. Verify the alloy, application, and facility requirements before use.
